Helmets are not only smart to wear for safety, but also required by law here in California. Everyday there are people hitting the trails without wearing a helmet. It doesn’t matter if you are a driver or passenger, proper helmets should always be worn.
The risk of an accident, the potential for injury, and the law doesn’t seem to be phasing those who are committed to not wearing a helmet though. That unfortunately leads to more injuries and regulations for our public lands and trail use. I’ve even seen parents ripping around the trail without their kids wearing helmets!

Potential Risks:
Traumatic brain injury, a broken neck, lacerations on your face or neck, concussions, neck injuries are all tragic possibilities when you are enjoying the OHV lifestyle. Of course the odds of any of those tragic injuries lessen exponentially by being safe and using proper gear.
Wearing your helmet doesn’t just prevent potential injury, a good helmet also cuts down on exposure to loud noise. We long ago have discovered the effects of loud noise on our long term hearing, wearing a helmet is a great way to control that especially with young children.

Lastly, a full faced helmet protects your face from not only an impact caused by a crash, but also keeps mud, weather, or debris out of your face and eyes and that allows for a much safer experience. Traveling through a water crossing or muddy trail is actually a lot of fun providing you can keep dry and able to see. Remember, there’s no better way of doing that than a quality helmet.
Conclusion:
I think everyone reading gets what I’m trying to say here right? So, the next time you are out enjoying the trails, please were your helmet, and make sure all passengers are wearing their helmets.
